This collection of writings, mostly poetry, some prose, and a bit of fiction called The Phoenix Documents was "born of fire." Not literally, like a house fire, but an internal flame and of a resurrection of sorts. The main title came to me after my thumb drive crashed. Nearly 30 pages of the original collection were lost, along with resumes, financial documents, graphics, and some fiction I had been working on for a few years. About 70% of those near 30 pages have been recovered or rewritten. I am very lucky to have had some of them stored in emails, on other media, and scraps of other documentation...
I wrote many of these pieces during times of great emotional challenge and they have significant meaning mostly unto me. So, if my writing invokes pleasant feelings, or you share the experience, “you’re welcome.” If it hurts you to read these, then I am “sorry” AND “you’re welcome.” If you read these and don’t like them, that is your burden to bear. These are my writings (unless indicated otherwise). This is me – whether whimsical, wandering, or weeping from my heart. Thank you for letting these words into your world through your eyes, and may they stir YOUR heart too.
I would like to thank God for blessing me with the love to write. I am forever grateful for the inspiration to capture and share some of this magic with others.
Thanks to those who have encouraged me to continue writing, those who have critiqued me and my writing, and those who helped me tweak both.
A special thank you to Jennifer Kirby for “SMS” and “The Lantern.” (to be posted @ a later date)
– thanks Jen, you rock!
myk
